Widespread psychiatric drug use in children is an issue of critical importance. The Citizens Commission on Human Rights documentary Dead Wrong: How Psychiatric Drugs Can Kill Your Child explores this issue in a personal way through real-life experiences shared by mothers. While they acknowledge that mood and anxiety problems can be “very real”, they stress that “there are alternatives to taking those drugs”.
Truehope shares the viewpoint that parents and healthcare professionals alike should thoroughly evaluate all options, including nutritional treatments, before using psychiatric drugs in children.
We applaud the Citizens Commission on Human Rights for its efforts to educate parents about the risks of psychiatric drug use in children and the risks of infant exposure through pregnancy and breastfeeding.
We also applaud the work of many progressive, compassionate healthcare professionals who carefully educate parents on these risks and who offer non-drug treatments and therapies to their patients.
