Ashley first became ill in 2003, after she began experiencing negative side effects from a medication prescribed by her doctor. When she told her doctor about the side effects, her doctor simply said that her symptoms were normal and that terminating the medication would worsen her situation. After staying on the prescription for about a year, Ashley was hospitalized for three and a half months and was subsequently prescribed medications for her bipolar symptoms. Ashley had severe side effects from these medications, which affected the functioning of her kidneys and liver to such an extent that she almost died. She was told that she would never be able to function normally again—that she would never again have a job, drive a car, or go back to school.
Not being satisfied with her treatment, Ashley’s father felt there was an alternative answer for his daughter. He stumbled upon EMPowerplus while searching on YouTube. After speaking with the Truehope staff and learning more about EMPowerplus, he encouraged Ashley to try it. At first she was apprehensive. Her doctor told her that making such a change would cause severe side effects, and that it wouldn’t work for her. Nevertheless, she decided to try it. It was not an easy process. Although she was released from the hospital weeks after beginning EMPowerplus, it took her approximately six months to get off her meds successfully.
Ashley has been symptom-free for over two years now and is currently a fully-functioning member of society. She looks forward to a happy, healthy future.
