Welcome to another edition of Common Ground Online. Here's what's in this week's edition:
Kathy suffered from depression throughout her adolescent years. When she was in her 20s, she decided to go to a doctor and was prescribed Zoloft. “It was wonderful,” Kathy said. But after being on it for over two years she tried to come off of it. “Holy smokes, that’s when I realized that what I was taking was pretty hard core stuff,” Kathy remarked. “The withdrawal symptoms were so horrid”.
A few years later, Kathy and her husband wanted to have a child, but they were faced with a predicament. They realized that the antidepressants Kathy was taking would likely have negative effects on their baby if they did get pregnant but they also knew first-hand that Kathy’s symptoms of depression were sometimes hard to manage without them.
After a particularly serious bout of depression, Kathy and her husband sought out a new psychiatrist in an attempt to find some help. The new psychiatrist recommended EMPowerplus because he had four other patients who had seen positive results and because Kathy wanted to take something that would not harm her baby if she got pregnant.
Shortly after starting EMPowerplus, Kathy and her husband found out that they were pregnant, something they had been trying to achieve for over five years. Kathy had a “perfect pregnancy” with “no mood swings” and had no symptoms of postpartum depression after giving birth to her beautiful, healthy baby girl.
